The retreat runs at a relaxed pace to suit the group, with ample time to chat or simply chill quietly if you prefer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) Do I need any experience of Yoga?

No. The practices are suitable for both newcomers to Yoga and seasoned Yogis.

2) Do I need to have superhuman levels of flexibility?

Absolutely not! You're encouraged to practice as you are, to explore the poses whilst honouring wherever your body is on the day.

3) Will I need to be able to get up and down off the floor?

Yes, this will enhance your enjoyment of the retreat. Some practices will involve an element of moving from pose to pose, including transitioning from floor to standing and back again. Other practices are more floor based and restorative.

4) Can I modify the poses to suit my body or if I have an injury?

Of course you can. My style of teaching is to encourage students to play on tehir mat and problem solve for themselves. If there are adaptations that you know suit your body better you're welcome to do those instead. I'll be on hand to offer guidance and help where needed.

5) Will you adjust me or touch me during the practice?

Only if you specifically request to be adjusted in a pose. Otherwise my style of teaching is "hands off".

6) What venues do you use?

The venues are typically within 30 mins drive of Worthing, West Sussex. Previous retreats have been held at Mannings Heath Golf Club, Arundel Wetlands Trust, Aldingbourne Country Centre and Let's Retreat, a dedicated mind-body retreat venue in Angmering.

All venues are quiet, have access to Nature, onsite toilet facilities and free car parking.

7) How big is the group size?

Depending on the venue capacity, group size for each retreat is typically limited to 10 -12 people. This allows for a friendly, inclusive atmosphere where regulars mingle happily with first timers.

8) What type of Yoga do you teach?

I teach a variety of styles, including Vinyasa Flow, slow & deep, restorative, Yin-style and meditative. The common factor is that you're encouraged to develop your own practice and move in a way that suits how your body is feeling at the time. I don't believe that Yoga should be stuffy or overly serious all the time. Expect an informal, light hearted at times and mindful approach to Yoga - a true mind-body experience.

9) I've never tried a sound bath before, is there anything I should be aware of?

I use crystal singing bowls in my sound bath, as well as other instruments. The singing bowls emit sound vibrations that most people describe as deeply relaxing and healing. However if you have metal implants (such as a joint replacement) or a pacemaker device you may want to consult with your doctor first. The sound vibrations from the bowls can interact with certain medical devices, leading to discomfort or possibly stopping the device from functioning as designed.

10) Do I need to bring any special equipment like a mat?

You may be more comfortable using your own Yoga mat. If you don't have your own mat I have a small number of mats that can be borrowed on a first come, first served basis. You may also wish to bring along a small cushion or pillow for support, extra layers or a blanket for the meditation and sound bath part of the retreat. Some of the venues have equipment like mats, blocks, bricks, straps and bands that can be borrowed. You may also want to bring your own water to sip during the practices.
